Mid-Ohio Con Part 2

Hello all! Sorry it has taken a few days to post more about Mid-Ohio Con. I have been under the weather the past few days but I'm doin my best to stay on top of everything. Nonetheless, here is Mid-Ohio Con part 2!! The picture posted above is .....well.....um......a super monkey? spider monkey maybe?!?! I think someone has been peeking into my notes for my Brit & Ivy comic! oopsy, did i just give something away?! I guess you'll just have to wait and see!

Here we have to cool fellas who make two cool comics! on the left we have William J Grapes with his book entitled "The Infernal Fire-Dragon". Here is the intro to Issue #1!

"Ian Drake has a knack for puzzles. He uses this ability in his job as an engineer at McKimson industries. With this ability he was able to look over discarded weapon and security prototypes and glean how they could be fit together. From this pile of disused projects he pieced together a flying suit. Not a suit to wear when one flies mind you, but a suit that will enable the wearer to fly.He debuted the suit for his father, the Duke of Clarendon, martin Drake.Unfortunately, his father, a pacifist, saw the military potential and asked Ian not to turn it over to McKimson Industries. This lead to an argument and before the two men could reconcile, the Duke was murdered but a nutter kitted out in a Nazi flag- Baron Von Blut. After the funeral, Ian received a recording his father had made. In it Martin Drake had revealed the secret history of the Drake family.Over the centuries the family had taken on the responsibility of defending the defenseless as an extension of their place in the Order of the Dragon. Ian's grandfather, Sir Epworth Drake served in both the great war and World War II to this end as a commando. It seems Baron Von Blut was a nemesis of Sir Epworth, code named The Dragon, and mistook Martin for Ian's grandfather. Martin's last wish was that Ian would continue the family tradition of altruism. Ian swore an oath and, using his flying suit, took up the family duty under the moniker of Fyre-dragon.

He publishes through Black Square Press straight out of Cincinnati! to find out more, check out www.fyredragon.com

To his right we have Brett Wood, The artist of "The Silver Bullet". Along with writer Eric Rampson, Brett has created a world as twistedly exciting and witty as The Tick on an intergalactic level! From robot pirates to monkey cowboys to even zombie ninjas who have warm, cheesy, embraces and that's just one issue!!! If you love a good comic that has action with a unique voice and sense of humor, "The Silver Bullet" is for you! I highly recommend this book. definitely going on my top ten list for the year! It's nice to see that there are others out there keeping this genre of action/humor books alive! For more info on this book you can go to www.lonelyrobotcomics.com!

Look! There's Chuck Moore doing his thing!

Ahhhhhhhh!!!! It's the Jedi Paparazzi!!!!

I'm too sexy for my hyper polymer plastoid 100% synthetic, 100% authentic Storm Trooper suit!
We are the Fett's who say Nyitt and use the escalator wherever we go cause we're cool like that. Darth can't touch this!

This friendly looking man is Jay P. Fosgitt, creator of another twistedly funny and exciting book entitled "Dead Duck". Here is the summary blurb on the back of the book.

"Beheadings, dismemberments, burning at the stake, malfunctioning nose hair clippers...It's just another day on the job for Dead Duck and Zombie Chick, employees of JP Yorick (aka Grim Reaper). Hired for the difficult and often messy task of delivering souls of the deceased, this undead duo know schlepping the dead around isn't the best job.....but it's a LIVING!!

As with " The Silver Bullet", this is going on my top ten list. I fell in love with the artwork right off the bat. Once I got the opportunity to start reading it, I was hooked and couldn't stop laughing. the jokes hit one right after the other and it is a very cool and unique approach to the whole Grim Reaper idea. the book is for mature readers, so if you are of age( and/or maturity(or immaturity ) Level) this is a must check out book! Mr. Fosgitt is an incredible creator and I can't wait to see more from! he also was kind enough to check out Brit & Ivy's Spectacular Spectacular and he dug it! If you wanna know more about this groovy guy,(which I highly suggest) you can go to www.jayfosgitt.com and www.apecmx.com. His Personal site has a lot of other strips and work he has done so spend some time there, it's well worth it!

This young man is uber friendly Jeremiah Witkowski! He has a web comic called "You, Me, And Steve. I picked up a copy of the strips and it was such a humorous and fun read, once I started it, I couldn't put it down! He also checked out my Brit & Ivy book and dug it also! He was a real pleasure to talk to and I hope to see more from him down the road. Stop by and check this cool kid's site at www.youmeandsteve.com

Good buddy of Twilight Star, Dustin Carson says Pimpin' IS easy when you have a killer book like NO GODS!
Wait until they get a load of Brit & Ivy! They ALWAYS put a smile on my face! (yeah, yeah, I know, I know, it was a shameless plug but this is my blog so nah nah booboo!!)

There was so much going on, so many awesome people, so many awesome things, half the time i was so over whelmed, I forgot to take pictures! I would be a horrible journalist! LOL So, I shall leave you on two good notes.

1) As of today, Brit & Ivy has sold 20 issues already. Which means they have sold about 10 Issues per week at this point! I guess I underestimated a bit seeing how I have to order more to print now! LOL

2) Marc Sumerak, former editor for Marvel and current freelance writer (Marvel Adventures, Franklin Richards Son Of A Genius) took the time out of his busy schedule to review my portfolio. It was a very positive experience and I thank him deeply for the tips and insight on what I can do to continue to push further on this adventure of mine.

until next time....

A mild concussion always makes for a great art show! :)

HELLLLLLOOOOOO EVERYBODY!!!! What a great week! The switch to 3rd shift has been a lot kinder to my body and my mind than I thought it would and everything is rock n' rollin' along! I know it's Sunday, and I am posting this blog because I did not take in consideration about the art show etc... and didn't get to post it last night. So I would like approval from the congress to retract the statement from the last blog and have it stricken from the record LOL I would like to state that the blog with be posted sometime over the weekend, every weekend, for your continued viewing pleasure. OK, now that I got that out of my system, the art show was INSANE!!! Being in conjunction with the street fair was an incredible idea! My mind is still in a blur from all the people I spoke with there at Superfly comics (www.superflycomics.com). Many people were vary interested in what I was doing personally and what Twilight Star Productions had to offer and many of them will be attending our 1yr anniversary and the Gem City comic con, just from the info I gave them yesterday! I even got a bunch of friend requests on facebook from this event! WOOOO HOOOO! things just get better and better! I also currently have some professional marketing annalists (*cough cough Brit & Ivy cough cough*) working diligently on ideas to help promote my books *snicker snicker* for example, lets recall Brit & Ivy #8....WELL NOW YOU CAN OWN YOUR VARY OWN TEDDY BEAR CAKE MADE BY BRIT & IVY THEMSELVES!!!! keep an eye out for more promotions coming vary soon!
In other news,

I have completed the first page to Phoebe and Eddie #2, almost done with page 5 of the Bumtastic 4, which I worked on diligently at the street fair yesterday, and I have drawn and inked up, not one, but 2 covers for the first issue of the Brit & Ivy on-going comic book! Yes you heard me correctly! two covers! One will feature Brit and the other will showcase Ivy! AND THAT'S NOT ALL! once the book is completed, I will be designing a SKETCH COVER that will only be available at conventions and signings that will allow you to have me draw an original piece of art right on the cover for ya! HOW ABOUT THAT FOR A DEAL!

Last but not least, For the 1yr Twilight Star Celebration at Superfly Comics ( check out my last blog for the link to all the info on this event) I will have available for purchase, Brit & Ivy's Super Spectacular Collection for the very first time and for the first 5 people who purchase this book, I will throw in original artwork and prints !!! And to anyone who mentions reading and following my blog, I will also throw in a free commission sketch! You can't ask for more than that! So be there or be square and get a copy of BRIT & IVY'S SUPER SPECTACULAR COLLECTION along with all the other great Twilight Star books being released and sold at this event right from the creators themselves!

Until next time,

peace, love and laughter,

The Busy Bee Catches the early bird and maybe a worm or two....ummmm or something like that.....

Hi again, it's Monday. Yup and it sure feels like it to when you have to deal with an Internet connection that runs slower sometimes then dial up and then just randomly likes to disconnect at the most inconvenient times. That's why it is 1:12 am and I am typing the blog with eyes half wide open. There's a lot to talk about but I think at this point I'm just gonna give a quick run down of what's going on in my art world so I can get some beauty sleep. Yeah I know what your thinking, I'm the last person who needs beauty sleep, am I right?! Anyways, I attended my first meeting with the guys at Twilight Star Studios and it was a pleasure to sit and discuss all that they are doing and planning and actually are going about it all in the right ways. Boy did I get lucky stumbling across this crew of talented and business minded folks! They gave me my first pages to work with doing inking and lettering so here is where it all starts! I myself and the rest of the guys from Twilight Star Studios will be attending the Champion City Comic Con on Sept 11th in Springfield, Ohio and we will have a table selling all of our swag, Including three new titles from Twilight Star Productions and also My BRIT & IVY Prints will be available there too! There's no better reason to attend, so mark your calenders folks!

I completed pages 2 & 3 of Phoebe & Eddie this week, which are posted below, so take a peak and let me know what ya think so far.

On the BRIT & IVY front, I have begun writing the first script for BRIT & IVY's first full length story, so keep an eye out I am sure it will be out in front of your eyes before ya know it!

OK, before I go into a brain coma from lack of sleep, here is BRIT & IVY #12 to sink your teeth into!!!

A Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin On!

Yo yo yo! What's goin' on every body! It's Monday again and what a better way to spend it than to read my mindless ramblings! LOL. It has a been a busy week and I have been working on some different projects. First up, I have been working on a five pager for Tony Doug Wright over at Champion City Comics (www.championcitycomcis.com). The story is entitled " Phoebe & Eddie. He gave me permission to show what I have done so far so check it out below. I can relate to it on so many different levels. Those who know me will catch on real quick from the first page. I will post more as I complete it.

Next up, Bill Gladman and myself have been working on a weekly Web Strip entitled "The Bumtastic Four". I have been working on character Sketches and he has been writing scripts. I will keep you updated as this becomes more solidified.

Last, but not Least, I just completed strip 15 of BRIT & IVY which puts me about 2 months ahead of schedule for the weekly run that it has seen in "The Springfield Paper" (www.thespringfieldpaper.com) So I am gonna take some time off from the weekly strip and work on a full length adventure featuring these two wonderful characters!

Until then.........enjoy what strips are left to come!!!!

What a Crazy Time At Super-Fly Comics! Plus A Bunch of Other Cool Stuff!

As I type this, I dread the fact that my vacation ends as of 9 am tomorrow morning and I have to return to my day job. I did have an incredible vacation with incredible people, I just hate that it went by soooooo fast! I did also get the opportunity to get a lot of artwork done so it was beneficial to take the time off in many different ways.

I have been moving right along with the BRIT & IVY strips and I think I am on strip #14 as we speak. 10 more and I can start submitting to syndicates. WOOO HOO!! I have gotten a few requests for T-shirts featuring BRIT & IVY so I am in the process of getting those underway also!

At the beginning of last week, I signed on to do a 5 page project with Tony Wright, a cool individual who runs Champion City Comics (www.championcitycomics.com) The project is currently titled Phoebe & Eddie and no, I don't do art just for projects named after two people, it just happened that way LOL. Anyways, The writing is right up my alley and I was hooked instantly. I will be doing all the artwork for it including the Lettering. When I am able, I will start posting some stuff on here related to this project. Be sure to also check out www.championcitycomics.com to stay up to date on all that is going on over there also. Another cool little fact about Tony Wright is that he is a former Springfieldian, hence the company being named Champion City Comics! What a small small world it is!

Now for new on the Art Show! As always, a great, great experience. The guys at Super-Fly Comics (www.superflycomics.com) always go beyond the call of duty to make it an incredible experience. Jay King ( http://tabletopfetus.com ), Zane Reichert (http://zhreichert.deviantart.com ) and two individuals from the local studio, Twilight Star Studios, were in attendance. It started off with very hot and humid weather leading to some pretty nasty thunderstorms, so turn out wasn't incredible but those who did come in the door were pleasant and a joy to talk to and discuss our craft with. I was at the table with the Twilight guys, noooooo, not Jacob and Edward, but Bill and Gary. We hit it off well and as time went by, we were discussing me becoming a part of what they do! Soooooo, I will be sure to keep you posted on how this all evolves in coming weeks! You can check out there take on this event with pictures to boot at

http://www.comicrelated.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9105&st=20&gopid=53425&#entry53425

Zane has been at a good amount of the art shows and is a really cool guy on top of being an incredible sci-fi/fantasy artist. If he keeps it up, He'll be making the big bucks in no time!

Jay joined us last during the art show on Free Comic Day and not to be biased, but this guy has the making to make it, big time! Here is an Illustration that he Sketched up at the art show just to give ya a taste of what this man can do.

So over all, great people and a great time as always!

And now to close this blog as always, I bring to you, BRIT & IVY #10!!!

Until next time!
